Wow…

I just watched Tae Guk Gi… One of the few movies that ever made me cry. If you like Saving Private Ryan; only with a story – hell if you like any movie; you owe it to yourself to watch this. Rating: 9.8/10. This coming from a guy that gives movies on average 4/10.

The basic premise is that two brothers are unwillingly enlisted to fight in the Korean war. The movie follows their journey; and the decisions the older brother endures to make his younger sibling return home.

The cinematography is excellent; as are the special effects. And the plot… well… was enough to make me cry :p

I saw you mentioning it in a previous post of yours. I managed to get my hands on it and will watch it ASAP.
Thank you for the heads up, apart from the anime which I dislike you’ve never failed me.

    Maybe you’ll hate it 😀

Just tell me what you thought of it after; for better or worse 🙂

Actually, on second thought… It was a really good movie, but I was overly generous in my rating. I’ll just blame it on the lack of sleep.

That said, still at least a 9.0/10 I’d say.

Pardon me for a seemingly ignorant question, but where can one find a movie like this? Is it available in any regular video store? Should I buy it from Amazon?

    Isn’t ignorant at all.

Unfortunately, you can’t really find this at a video store like Rogers or Blockbusters. If you go on Sommerset (I assume that you’re from the Ottawa area), there’s an International video rental place there (“Video Mondo” I think it is), and you might find it in there. There are also some Korean shops in the area that rent videos.

But really, this being a good movie is only my opinion; and it shouldn’t be bought until you at least see it for yourself. In that respect, you can download the movie from here:

    PS. The above uses Bittorrent.
